The postpartum period places significant demands on your body — physically, emotionally, and mentally. Whether you’ve had a vaginal birth or caesarean birth, your body has gone through enormous change during pregnancy and delivery, and recovery can take time.
My postpartum physiotherapy sessions are designed to support women across Sydney’s Northern Beaches through recovery after pregnancy and birth. I provide mobile, in-home women’s health physiotherapy to help you heal, recover and return to exercise and everyday activities safely and confidently.
Postpartum Physiotherapy
What to expect in a postpartum physio session?
Every postpartum recovery journey is different. During your in-home appointment, I take the time to understand your birth experience, symptoms, recovery goals, and any concerns you may have.
Depending on your needs, sessions may include:
Pelvic floor assessment
Abdominal assessment and rehabilitation
Guidance on safe return to exercise, lifting, and daily activities
Management of bladder and bowel symptoms
Assessment and support for prolapse and prolapse symptoms
Treatment for pelvic, back, and hip pain
Caesarean scar assessment and treatment
Postural and movement advice for feeding and baby care
Recovery support following vaginal or instrumental birth
Education around bowel, bladder, and pelvic floor health
Is postpartum physiotherapy right for me?
Many women assume symptoms after birth are simply something they need to “put up with,” but issues such as leaking, pelvic heaviness, abdominal weakness, pain, or discomfort are common — not necessarily normal.
Postpartum physiotherapy can help identify areas of weakness, tension, or delayed recovery early and provide treatment strategies to support healing and long-term pelvic health.
Early assessment and education can also help women return to exercise and activity more safely while reducing the risk of ongoing pelvic floor or abdominal issues.
Common postpartum concerns I can help with:
Leaking urine when coughing, sneezing or exercising
Pelvic heaviness or prolapse symptoms
Abdominal separation (diastasis recti)
Pelvic floor weakness
Pelvic girdle, back, or hip pain
Perineal pain or scar discomfort
Caesarean scar pain, tightness or sensitivity
Pain during intercourse
Guidance returning to exercise
Returning to running, gym or sport
When should I book?
I generally recommend a postnatal physiotherapy assessment from around 6 weeks postpartum, however appointments may be appropriate earlier depending on your symptoms, birth experience, or recovery needs.
Women are also encouraged to reach out months or even years after birth if symptoms are ongoing or if they would like support returning to exercise or improving pelvic floor function.
Postpartum recovery is not one-size-fits-all, and you deserve support through this stage of motherhood too.
As a mobile women’s health physiotherapist, I bring assessment and treatment to the comfort of your own home in Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Babies and children are always welcome at appointments, making it easier to prioritise your recovery during the busy postpartum period.
